As I mentioned in the last post, the memorial service is to be webcast for those who are unable to attend. Coast Guard public affairs has a press release about it. The memorial itself is only open to family and Coast Guard members, so the webcast is the way for the rest of the public [...] Master Chief Bowen, more commonly know as the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard, has some great news for those of you wondering about the new ME (Maritime Enforcement Specialist) rate, and are still unsure if it’s the right move. Over the weekend a co-worker sent me a link to a great Coast Guard related (sort’a) find. The band ATON (Aid To Navigation) is a take on the Coast Guard’s use of the term as picked by band member Shawn Brown- a former Coastie himself and a member of “an Aids to Navigation Station in [...] It recently dawned on me as the family and I were strolling through the NEX in Norfolk, VA this past week that there is a lot of Chief Petty Officer swag about the place. Not only that- the NEX flyers we’ve been receiving for the better part of the last 2-3 weeks also have the [...] Yesterday on the public CGMS board the newly revised Special Duty Assignment Pay chart came out via ALCOAST 462/09. Last week in our Open Discussion area a user commented the following- t was a little less than a month ago that I mentioned the newly found blog of Vice Admiral Papp, the Atlantic Area Commander, where it was noted that he was on a trip visiting our folks on the other side of the pond who are pulling duty as part of Patrol Forces Southwest Asia [...] |
