CGBLOG Find: A Delicious Aroma

ShowImageSometimes I can go days without finding something obscure and odd that is Coast Guard related to write about, but when I do, it’s usually pretty cool…or completely ridiculous. That’s where this item falls. For those of you who have always wanted to enjoy that “Coast Guard smell”, now you can with Coast Guard Cologne Riptide:

Riptide conjures the elements of seas and wind in an unmistakably nautical fragrance. A cocktail of fresh citrus notes mingled with vibrant spices inspires confidence and reminds that you are always ready.

Oh yah, that’s it. A fresh citrus cocktail odor to remind me of being always ready. I guess it’s better than the original concept which was a thick blend of diesel fuel, long hours, and aging equipment. Or perhaps the other option was a 378 cologne which offered the bold scent of rust, mildew, and smoke. Anyway, if you have an extra $45 to spend, you can now smell “Always ready”. If that seals the deal for you, then head over here for your purchase.

LOL! 378 cologne would be similar to 210 cologne, especially if you go for Pre-MMA 210, you could call it Eau De JP5. Or perhaps "King Neptune" and it'd smell like fried clams and mac&cheese.

The ad claims it's "the officially licensed cologne for the Men of the United States Coast Guard." I wonder how much truth there is in THAT statement. Did someone at Headquarters actually approve of this, and if it's licensed, does the Coast Guard MWR get a cut of the sales or a flat license fee?

Also, is MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) still called that or has it been renamed?

MWR would not receive a "cut" and I highly doubt this company has taken the steps to legally use the U.S. Coast Guard crest. As I'm sure we're all aware, like the Coast Guard Ensign, the Coast Guard Seal (shown on the cologne bottle) may NEVER be used outside the Coast Guard.

Mr. Lawler...I believe we have just found ourselves a "law breaker".

    Old Spice means quality

    So look for the bottle

    Think of the possibilities:
Sand Peep, smalls like freshly mown grass and donuts
MSO, smalls like an oil spill
Airdale, smells like kerosene and fresh linens and rum and coke

most guy's and gals like a more natural scent, most scents should be custom made
because it really depends on rather you are a active person, or you are not.

I wonder if they'll be a perfume for the women...or are we once again suppose to just use the men's products.
