So yesterday, as a ME applicant, I dialed in to listen to the town hall style teleconference that was being held on behalf of the USCG’s newest rating. I found the concept behind this event to be pretty cool. It was a step forward in the involvement of all hands being part of the evolution of the CG’s jobs. BZ to those who were involved in the execution of the event. Now, I have to admit that I did not listen to all of the meeting. I only got about an hour in when I had to go. I did wonder why they only read off 3-4 of the email questions, I figured there would be more than that. I also got a little irritated when they took people’s questions live, only to have folks from the fleet ask questions that were already addressed in the message. Oh well, live and let learn.
Did anyone else tune in for the entire duration? Was there anything important passed that can be shared? If so, then pass it in the comments section below. With that said, thanks again to all those who made the teleconference available. The ME rating is on it’s way and I am thankful. For those of you who are still curious about the ME rate, and the abundance of USCG related information isn’t enough, you can check out a new Navy Times article on the new rating here. Deadline is Oct 2nd, so get moving.

It's Oct. 2nd! If anyone knows any info on the amount that applied compared to that they anticipated please let it leak here! haha I meet some criteria such as security clearence, obligated service and such, but without all the BTM training i'm kind of nervous. REALLY hoping for this rate!

It's my understanding that they have about 50% of the anticipated amount. This should be hopeful for anyone who meets the minimum criteria. That's all I know.

I totally missed the teleconferance. I have put in a package for ME and will be making Chief with-in the next month or so. Did they comment on the number of actual applicants as opposed to the number needed - especially at the E-7 level? Im trying to gain incite on the chance of me being picked up for ME.
