MCPOCG Bowen on the “cocaine case;” a must read

cgahThe Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard (MCPOCG) has posted a well written and very articulate piece on his Coast Guard All Hands site covering the recent court-martial of Captain M. Sullivan who was found guilty of “wrongfully using cocaine.” Though no specifics into the case are discussed, as it’s an ongoing case, MCPOCG Bowen does us all a great service by spelling out exactly what CAPT Sullivan’s conviction means and even goes so far as giving historical references of past cases with similar subjects; a fact that this site and others have failed to provide (my research staff is hasn’t returned from their vacation they started about two years ago). I highly encourage you who are questioning this case to read what MCPOCG Bowen has to say.

On a side note I’d like to say I’m impressed with the head-on attitude MCPOCG Bowen has taken on squelching some of the hearsay that blogs (perhaps this one included) and military forums have created throughout the internet. I believe his site is the first official site to cover this subject/case; and in doing so he is providing a great example for the other official sites to follow- using the blogging medium as I believe it was intended to be used within our organization.
