Resignation again requested?
Posted by Peter A. Stinson
I received an interesting, and brief, email earlier: I was told the Commandant was asked to resign Friday by a member of congress. I don't know who or if it is true. Are we taking on water?

Let me be the first to second that request. I have been asking all readers for months to give me an example of what Admiral Allen has done since Katrina.
No response.
I heard this sevearl weeks ago and shared it privately with several readers by e-mail.
Now I come clean ... low level questions on the Hill on CG's ability to keep pace as a mainstream military force.
Is it time for CG to move under the Department of the Navy? Many laws to be reworked, but the bottom line is that Admiral Allen has proven that CG is becoming too big for its Mom & Pop and mentality.
Don't get mad but the reality is that at the end of the day, Adm. Allen has more experience than the Commissioner of Police in New York City with a few more employees, no more experience than a boot One Star in the other services.
He needs leadership. Sorry. - At Tuesday, April 22, 2008 10:45:00 PM EDT Thomas Jackson said...

My wife tells me I was too hard in that last post. She is right as always. I was wrong. Admiral Allen has more experience than a boot one star in the other services, but still has less than a senior two star or boot three star in the other services. I stand corrected.

Thad Allen is a blustering empty suit, that makes a lot of noise and promises, but lacks the honor and leadership that his position requires.
His subordinates have no faith in him, Congress has no faith in him, and he has repeatedly proven that he can not be trusted.
The uniform does not make the man, but the man can ruin the uniform by his lack of candor and lack of honor.
Thad has deply disgraced the uniform, and it is time for him and several members of his staff to take it off.
Thad Allen and his close staff has been found wanting, and it is time for them to exit gracefully; while they are still able to.
